Visit to Kuching, Sarawak - Part 2

Dengan nama Allah, Helang mulakan entry.

Kalau ikutkan sebenarnya nak tidur dah ni. Sebab esok nak start the day as early as possible to have more time visiting places around Kuching ni. Apparently, since we all on our own ( sebab ada rented car), today we all keluar berjalan after breakfast around 9am plus jugak. Tapi sebab destinasi ke Sarawak Cultural Village tu dalam 45 minutes je, so sempat make rounds and catch the cultural show on time.

Mount Santubong fromSCV
Okay, let me story-mory to you what we did on or second day in Kuching/Sarawak. Today, our first visit in the morning adalah ke Sarawak Cultural Village, letaknya di kawasan Damai, Santubong. Hah, dah memang nama Santubong ada kat situ, of course you can see the Mount Santubong before your eyes kat situ. SCV ni, the place where you can see the houses of multi-ehnic kat Sarawak ni. It’s about nearly half day tour jugak, if you take your own sweet time to enjoy the houses and the ‘people’ yang ada kat situ. Cultural show ada dua session : one at 11.30am and next at 4.00pm. Takkan le we all nak tunggu for the second session, kan? The rounds/tour around the houses ( Melanau, Bidayuh, Ulu, Penan, Melayu and Chinese) took us about one and half hour (rasanyalah, lupa laks) and by the time sampai last house, it’s nearly 11.30 m and we all dah dengar bunyi loceng dibunyikan tanda show dah nak  mula.
Okey, yang tak bestnya, since the show buat dalam theatre ( ala-ala dalam panggung wayang gitu and of course gelap), Alia tak mau masuk – nangis2 le pulak. So terpaksalah Helang tunggu di luar dan let hubby and Aiman je masuk. Cuma bila ada sorang brother tourist guide ada tunggu kat luar jugak, so Helang pun mintak dia tengokkan Alia dan masuk sekejap-sekejap to see the show. Suka hati je kan? At last bila pintu dibuka pada show terakhir, barulah Alia macam okey and masuk sekejap tengok ( tak tahan tengok macam best je dengar kot).

Next, after having our lunch kat Damai food court, we all patah balik ke arah town. On the way ingat nak singggah ke muzium Kucing ( yes, you read it right, kat sini ada muzim khas untuk kucing you alls). But tutup lah pulak. So we went straight to Northern part of Kuching where you can see Astana, new DUN building and Fort Margherita. Oh ya, Astana and DUN building tu tak boleh masuk, just ambil gambar dari luar ( buat syarat hohoho). Tapi Fort Margherita tu at  first we all tak jumpa jalan nak pergi sana ( Google direction dan GPS sama hampeh tak jumpa jalan). Last-last ikut kedudukan dalam map, we all ikut dalam Kampung Gersik dan Kampung Boyan, baru jumpa. Macam scary woo tempat tu. We all sampai pun nearly 4pm, and the guard nak close at 4pm. So, masuklah tengok kejap, kecik je tempat tu. Memang takkan lama pun kat situ.

Ha, dah lalu Kampung Gersik tu apa lagi, of course menyinggah ke kedai kek lapis Dayang Salhah. Borong juga dalam beberapa ketul. Rasanya esok atau sebelum balik macam nak singgah lagi. Enam batang macam tak cukup je. Macam-macam perisa ada. Actually kat situ ada banyak je kedai kek lapis. Tapi macam biasa, Helang pergi tempat yang recommended by bloggers/forumers.

The highlights of the day, naik Sarawak River Cruise for sunset cruise. We all sampai waterfront dalam pukul 4.45pm, just in time untuk beli ticket and boarding pukul 5pm. The kids memang enjoy the cruise, though Helang rasa macam a bit overrated, but what the heck. Selain daripada tunjuk iconic landmarks kat Kuching, the cruise ada juga tunjuk cultural dance. Hah, ternganga mulut Alia tengok. Dia tak tau lagi colourful and fun watching the show masa kat SCV.  After the cruise, we end our day by having dinner kat RJ Ayam Bakar. Actually nak je try Raja Ayam Penyet atau Coffee-O corner, but the restaurants kat area Satok sana, malas nak ke arah sana dah. RJ Ayam Bakar ni dah tak jauh dari our hotel.

The best thing about today’s trip was the fact that we enjoyed the nature and culture. Jalan ke kawasan Damai tu memang best, coz macam balik kampong jugak lah, kiri-kanan nampak pokok-pokok, hutan dan Mount Santubong. Even kat SCV tu pun you can see Mount Santubong from a far. The river cruise pun sama, you will enjoy the ride if you love panoramic view. Man, I love nature walk and panoramic view!!
